TAOASIS – The sweet smell of success: When company founder and author of specialist books Axel Meyer published his first book back in 1981, TAOASIS was nothing more than a vision. Over the next few years the little publishing house established itself quickly with its comprehensive range of books on nutrition, and it began to take on a pioneering role in the publishing trade as regards health and vegetarian food.

A personal love for fragrant essences led to the publication in 1991 of “Das kleine Lexikon der Düfte” (“The little encyclopaedia of fragrance”), one of the first German specialist books on aromatherapy, which has been fully revised and is now available in its 11th edition as a large format book with a great many photos. This definitive work changed the direction and focus of the little publishing house forever. The growing demand for the fragrances described in the encyclopaedia really urged the company on to offer those fragrances itself. So that’s exactly what it did – and right from the very beginning, they were only available in pharmacies!

The little publishing house has now developed into a successful and innovative family company with a small pharmaceutical production facility; with over 12,000 customers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, it is the leading manufacturer of aromatherapy products for pharmacies. Although the company also produces goods for other well-known firms and its precious fragrances are supplied to over 20 countries, one thing has not changed – the TAOASIS® and TAOMED® brands are still exclusively available in pharmacies.
