Frequently asked questions

Many questions about our products, ingredients or sales keep coming up: What are the INCIS? Why is there “perfume” in the INCIS of natural products? And can TAOASIS products also be bought abroad? Here we try to answer you the most important questions about us and our products.

About us

We as TAOASIS Natur Duft Manufaktur distribute our products under different brands: TAOASIS, Baldini and Meditao. With the TAOASIS and Meditao brands, we are exclusive to pharmacies and our own stores. Baldini is our brand that we have developed especially for the organic retail trade. These products are therefore also available or can be ordered in organic markets or health food stores.
Baldini is our brand that we have developed especially for the organic retail trade. With the TAOASIS and Meditao brands, we are exclusive to pharmacies and our own stores. We would also like to offer the most popular products, such as our Cool School range, to our customers at organic retailers, so they are available under both brands. Products of the same name have the same ingredients of course.

Yes. TAOASIS was founded by Axel Meyer in 1991, and Axel Meyer’s son Govinda Meyer has been part of the family business since 2013 as the second CEO. They are personally involved in all decisions and processes, so that the addition “family-managed” really applies. Visit our “About us” page for more information about us and our history.

The fragrance device should always be adapted to the size of the room you want to scent. For example, scent stones have a very small scent radius and are especially suitable for the desk or bedside table. Small ultrasonic diffusers like the TaoWell Mini or the TaoStone Thermo Scent Stone are suitable for smaller rooms up to 15qm. For larger rooms up to approximately 25sqm, larger nebulizers such as the TaoWell Novo or the TaoWell Picco are suitable and for very large rooms our biggest nebulizers like the TaoWell Puro. You can also regulate the scent by the dosage of the oil by just adding a few drops of oil more. For larger rooms, however, you should definitely have a larger device, so that the smell near the device is not too intense.

You fill an ultrasonic diffuser with a little water and then simply add a few drops of essential oil into the water. The ultrasound makes the water evaporate cold and the fragrance gently releases the vapor into the air, unlike fragrance lamps that use heat (e.g., candles). Depending on the size of the diffuser and the dosage of the oil you can scent entire rooms naturally.
Scent stones are made of clay. If you put essential oil on it, the oil first gets into the clay. Then the essential oil begins to evaporate by itself and releases its scent to the room. After some time, the scent is gone and there are no or minimal residues left on the scent stone.
Yes! You can neutralize the scent stone in boiling water or in the dishwasher. Let it dry and then reuse it with another oil.

The clay jug, for example in our Sleep well-set with Clay jug , works like a scent stone. You can put a few drops of the oil in the jug or the whole bottle. You can then close it with the cork or leave it open – the clay jug sucks the oil from the inside to the upper area, which is not glazed from the outside, and scents the room – because essential oils evaporate completely by themselves and without residues! Due to the dropwise dosage you can control the consumption and the intensity of the fragrance a bit better and do not directly use the whole bottle. You can also just put a few drops on the jar from the outside. If the oil is used up, you can neutralize the clay jug in the dishwasher and use it again.

Ingredients & Quality

Our oils are natural, pure and organic and come from organic or even demeter-grown – without any additives. We never use synthetic or nature-identical substances. We manufacture our products according to high quality criteria and requirements, as you can read on our “Quality” page .

All our products are free of animal testing and thus guaranteed cruelty free. 99% of our products are vegan. Only in two products Beeswax is used, the rose balm and the Meditao angelica balm. But this is also clearly indicated in the ingredients of the two products. Our founder and CEO Axel Meyer lives vegan himself. Therefore, it is also in our personal interest to keep our products free from animal products and of course also cruelty free.
“INCI” is an abbreviation for “International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients”. The INCIS are guidelines for labeling cosmetics and not the same as the ingredients. The INCIS specify what has to be distinguished as a component of cosmetics. For example, the parts of an oil (such as linalool or citral) that are relevant to allergic reactions must be labeled separately, even if they are a natural component of the oil. We never add individual ingredients.

Our oils are made of 100% natural, essential oils. We do not use any synthetic or nature-identical substances. There are two reasons for the fact that you find “perfume” in the INCIS: 1. The guidelines for the INCIS (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) specify exactly what has to be stated as an ingredient on cosmetics. So we have to distinguish the essential oils that we use. But since we – and this is the second reason – of course do not want to disclose the exact recipe for our products, we use (as provided by the INCIS), “perfume” as a generic term for various essential oils. Perfume does not mean that it is a non-natural ingredient – our oils are 100% natural. Nevertheless, in the INCIS, of course, allergy relevant ingredients are indicated.

In some 100% all-natural fragrance compositions, such as “Cool School”, “Alcohol” can be found in INCIS. This is because a fragrance contains vanilla, for example. Vanilla is an extract. This means that the essential oil is extracted by alcohol. Therefore, alcohol must be indicated in the INCIS, even if it is contained only in tiny parts.
The oils of our Feel series are specially developed for the nebulizers, therefore they contain a small amount of organic alcohol which makes them mix easier with water. Only in these scent compositions alcohol is deliberately added.

All our oils are subject to the same strict quality controls. The Baldini organic flavors are 19 essential oils, which we have additionally labeled with the EG Öko-label and thus as food. This allows us to recommend these oils for internal consumption. All other essential oils are certified as natural cosmetics and we are not allowed to recommend them for internal use. Exceptions are the two oils peppermint (PZN 00729563) and eucalyptus (PZN 00729557) from the series “Aromatherapy medicine cabinet”. They are approved as medicinal products and may be recommended and used accordingly.

How to use

We may only recommend our essential oils for consumption, which we offer as the organic flavor under the Baldini brand . These are food-grade and can be used to flavor food and drinks. Basically, all our oils are subject to the same strict quality controls and are all natural. However, we must not recommend all oils for consumption, as they are indicated as natural cosmetics.
For the internal intake also certain instructions are to be observed. Visit our page “How to use essential oils” for more information.

Yes. Our Baldini organic fragrances are all-natural, essential oils that we have additionally labeled as food. Therefore, we can also recommend them for food and drinks. You can still use them for the scenting of rooms and also on the skin. If you want to use essential oils on the skin, you should first mix them with a base oil such as almond oil or jojoba oil.

Essential oils are perfect for this. The pure essential oils and the compositions of several essential oils are certified as cosmetics and can be mixed with base oil and applied as a cosmetic. The organic flavors of Baldini are excellent as food, but also for the use on the skin as cosmetics. The oils of the Feel series (Feelglück, Feelfreude etc.) contain alcohol, because they were specially made for ultrasonic diffusers and so get better into the air. On the oils you will always find an indication of how much oil is to be used on how much base oil. Please note that some oils such as rose and sandalwood are particularly skin-care, while oils such as citrus fragrances can irritate the skin in higher doses. Read through the description of the oil and test in advance, for example in the crook of your arm, if you tolerate the mixture. See our recipe pages for instructions on making aroma massage oils for yourself.

Yes! With essential oils you can make great aroma bath additives. Please note only some advices, for example, that the oils are previously mixed with a base (such as cream or milk) and added only to the already filled bathtub. Visit our Cosmetic Recipes page for dosage and application information.

Which dosage is the right one varies greatly depending on the individual preference and the type of application. Under “Dosage” you will find valuable tips.

For babies and children, some application and dosage instructions should be followed. Please visit our “Aromatherapy for Babies and Children” page and other related literature on which oils you can use in which dosage.

During pregnancy, some application and dosage instructions should be followed. Please visit our “Aromatherapy in Pregnancy” page and other related literature on which oils you can use in which dosage.

Animals react differently to people on essential oils. Please inform yourself in special literature on the topic on which oils you can use in which dosage. For this we can not give our own recommendations for action.

Cultivation

Conventional cultivation means a traditional cultivation, where lower quality standards are applied and the use of pesticides is allowed. In organic farming, on the other hand, organic seeds are sown, organic fertilizers are used and no pesticides are used. The Demeter standard goes even further than the organic standard, because here the natural cycle is respected, only special varieties are used and only a few, selected additives in fertilizer or animal feed are allowed. We always strive for the highest cultivation standard for raw materials in our assortment. For more information about our cultivation standards, visit our “Cultivation” page .

Which oil smells “better” is very individual and different for each person. Organic or Demeter-grown oil meets higher quality standards that we esteem, especially when tested in the lab. But also lavender oil from conventional cultivation can smell great.
The fact that the oil from Provence is so popular, is mainly due to the tradition and the degree of familiarity that results from it. Lavender has been grown in Provence for a long time, because the climatic conditions were optimal there, so that many people automatically connect the area to the plant. But that does not mean that the lavender is of better quality or smells better.
